We would love for you to join us for a wonderful and relaxing evening. We are so excited about bringing another child into our family. Start your evening with a glass of wine and some hors d'oeuvres while listening to live music and mingling with friends. Then enjoy salad, pork tenderloin or chicken, twice baked potatoes, and vegtables. Eat your desert while you listen to Jeremy and Kelly Bullock share their story of bringing Mercy home last March. Luther and I will take some time to share about our families journey also. We are looking forward to what God has planned for this evening.

Homestudy Done!

We received our notarized copy of our home-study today. We will be sending off the USCIS paperwork tomorrow and then we will wait for our fingerprint appointment. Our dossier will be ready as soon as we get that information returned. I can not believe we are ready for this next step!  : )

Our family had it's first experience with Ethiopia. We visited a restaurant in Nashville called Gojo. This was a really big step for my family. They are very picky eaters. I, on the other hand, love to experience new types of food. The girls were very excited to experience the kind of food their new sister may be eating. This is huge because they don't even like it when I cook a new food. We arrived and they loved talking to our waitress. She was from Ethiopia. We shared that we were in the process of adopting. She asked if we had ever been to Addis (the capital of Ethiopia). We ordered Doro W'et (a chicken leg dish) and Yebeg Alicia (a lamb dish). You do not use utensils to eat. Everything came out on a large round platter. We got a basket of their Injera (their bread-like a flat pancake but not the same taste or texture). You tear off pieces of the Injera and use it to pick up the food. Every body tried everything. Grace loved the chicken legs and she was fascinated with the Injera. She really enjoyed playing with it. Gabrielle's favorite part was their spiced tea. She drank it cold and then ordered it hot after the meal. She said "It is the best tea I have ever had." I really liked both items we ordered but thought the Yebeg Alicia was the best. The  spices in it were really good. I think this was a great way to experience some of the culture. We hope to take the girls with us on our first trip to Ethiopia. I am sure we will take a lot of snack bars and poptarts.

Adoption Pictures

These are some of the pictures Jennifer Millard took for our adoption on December 29, 2011. We are so glad she was able to do these for us to share our journey. We are wearing our TOMS because we love the fact that TOMS gives a pair of shoes to a person in need when we buy our pair. We are looking forward to filling the shoes and taking another set of family pictures in the future. We continue to be amazed at the journey God is taking our family on.
